It has been brought to the notice of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) that Mr. Malwattage Ranjith Nandana Pieris, Director of Kasagala Green Plantation (Private) Limited, on 08.06.2026 on “Pini Viyana” television programme on Independent Television Network, Sri Lanka (ITN) had stated, inter alia, that Kasagala Green Plantation (Pvt) Ltd. (KGPL):
(i)is an entity regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL),
(ii)submits information/documents/data as required by CBSL in every six (06) months time to CBSL, and
(iii)if any concern exists, CBSL would inquire into that from KGPL.
Whilst formally and categorically denying the above statement made by Mr. Pieris on 08.06.2026 on “Pini Viyana” television programme which was broadcasted on ITN, the CBSL wish to inform the public that the information stated therein is factually incorrect, misleading, and has no legal basis.
Having noted that the said statements made by Mr. Pieris are capable of causing serious damage to the public who view the said TV programme through electronic and social media, the public is hereby informed that as at present an investigation is being carried out by CBSL with regard to the activities of Kasagala Green Plantation (Private) Limited under the provisions of the Finance Business Act, No. 42 of 2011 (FBA) to ascertain whether this company has carried on or is carrying on finance business or has accepted or is accepting deposits from the public in contravention of the provisions of section 2 of FBA.
