Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has coordinated a webinar on “Recent Changes on Foreign Exchange Regulations” with Department of Foreign Exchange, CBSL on 26th November 2021 for Bankers and Government Officers in Eastern Province. The objective of this webinar was to provide an understanding on the recent changes on foreign exchange regulations in the country. The webinar was successfully held through Zoom platform with 145 participants and the resource persons of the programme were Mr. Chatura Ariyadasa, Additional Director, Department of Foreign Exchange, CBSL, Mr. D L Lakmal, Assistant Director, Department of Foreign Exchange, CBSL and Mr. R M S P Ratnayaka, Assistant Director, Department of Foreign Exchange, CBSL.
An Educational Seminar on “Role of CBSL on the financial system of the Sri Lanka and Monetary Policy Framework” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Economic & Business Studies teachers and students of Zonal Education Department, Trincomalee was successfully held on 25 February 2021 at the - the auditorium of the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka. 13 teachers and 42 students participated in this programme. The resource person of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional manager, Regional Office - Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
An awareness programme on “Digital Financial Literacy targeting the villagers in Green Village” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for General Public in Pallikkudiyiruppu was successfully held on 05th August 2021 at the Kalaimahal Hindu College, Pallikkudiyiruppu and 68 participants were participated for this programme. Three Licensed Banks (BOC, Peoples’ Bank and HNB) situated near Pallikkudiyirupu have supported to create awareness on how to use mobile banking apps to conduct banking activities.
An awareness programme on “Financial Literacy targeting Development Officers in the region” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Development Officers in Vakarai was successfully held on 25th January, 2021 at the Vakarai DS office, Batticaloa and 40 participants were participated for this programme. The resource person of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
An Awareness Programme on “Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka and its functions” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Officials of the Banks & Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Batticaloa was successfully conducted on 29th February 2020 at Sunshine Hotel, Batticaloa and 126 officers participated in this programme. The Resource Persons of the programme were Mr. Indika Dissanayake, Operations Manager, CRIB and Mr. Bathiya Wijenayake, Executive Operations, CRIB.
A programme on “Trade Fair and Exhibition to mark the 70th Anniversary of Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL)” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Government organizations, Financial Institutions and Small and Medium Entrepreneurs was successfully conducted on 13th and 14th March 2020 at Urban Council Vehicle Park, Trincomalee to access new market opportunities and establish a strong brand name for local products and provide a platform to build a strong customer network and around 150 participants benefitted by this programme. Mr. J. P. R. Karunaratne, Assistant Governor of CBSL, Mr. J. M. Ameer, Additional Director of CBSL, Mr. K. Prabakaran Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee of CBSL, Regional Heads of Banks and Head of the Government organizations also participated in this programme.

A Skill Development Programme on “Special Function Cake Making” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Women Entrepreneurs in Trincomalee was successfully conducted on 18th and 19th February 2020 at the Auditorium, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and 30 Women Entrepreneurs benefited by this programme. The Resource Person of the programme was Mrs. W M Thamara Karunaseeli, Trainer Kandurata Women Development Society and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
An awareness programme on “Counterfeit notes and clean notes policy” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the School Students in Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College, Trincomalee were successfully conducted on 5th February 2020 at the Auditorium, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and 52 School Students participated in this programme. The Resource Persons of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
An awareness programme on “Financial Literacy targeting Development officers in the region” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Development officers in Kalmunai was successfully held on 31st January, 2020 at the Kalmunai Tamil Divisional Secretariat office and 93 participants were participated for this programme. The resource person of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
An awareness programme on “Financial Literacy targeting Development officers in the region” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Development officers in Kiran was successfully held on 29th January, 2020 at the Kiran Divisional Secretariat office and 65 participants were participated for this programme. An awareness programme on “Financial Literacy, Marketing and Customer Service” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for SMEs & MEMEs in Batticaloa was successfully held on 24th January, 2020 at the YMCA, Batticaloa and 30 participants were participated for this programme. A programme on “Modern Technology on Packaging & Labeling” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for SMEs & MEMEs in Batticaloa was successfully held on 23rd January, 2020 at the YMCA, Batticaloa and 90 participants were participated for this programme. The resource person of the programme was Mr. M. G. Bandula, Deputy Director, IDB, Galle.
An awareness programme on “Financial Literacy targeting Development officers in the region” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Development officers in Kuchchavely was successfully held on 22nd January, 2020 at the Kuchchavely Divisional Secretariat office, Trincomalee and 50 participants were participated for this programme. The resource person of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
An awareness programme on “Anti Money Laundering and Protecting Financing of Terrorism” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Police Officers in Batticaloa District was successfully held on 23nd October, 2019 at the Green Garden Hotel, Batticaloa and 85 Police officers participated for this programme. The resource persons of the programme were Mr. M.M Theseem- Senior Assistant Director, Mr. N.P.I.N Gunawardena – Senior Assistant Director and Mr. K.D.S.N Athukorala – Assistant Director from Department of Financial Intelligence Unit, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Mr.K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated to this programme.
A “Skill Development Programme on Hand bag Making” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for women entrepreneurs in the Ampara District was successfully held on 12th & 13th October 2019 at Community Hall, Ampara. 62 women entrepreneurs participated for the programme. The resource person of the programme was Mrs. Kalyani Gunarathne, Trainer in Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.

A special programme on “EPF Mobile service” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Labour Department of Batticaloa was successfully held on 06th September, 2019 at the Labour department, Batticaloa and 150 EPF beneficiaries benefited from this programme. Programme on “Knowledge sharing and being away from indebtedness” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for General public in Ampara Divisional Secretariat was successfully held on 03rd September, 2019 at the Divisional Secretariat, Ampara and 100 General public participated for this programme. The Resource Person of the programme was Mr. A.M. Niroshan, Management Trainee, Regional Office Trincomalee.
A “Training Programme on Marketing, Accounting & book keeping” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Dairy Farmers in the Batticaloa District was successfully held on 02nd August 2019 at YMCA Hall in Batticaloa. 45 Dairy Farmers participated for the programme. The lecture of the programme was conducted by Mr. Pathmanathan Seguraj, Audit Examiner of National Audit Office and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
A “Skill Development Programme on Dairy Products” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Dairy farmers in Batticaloa was successfully conducted on 31st July 2019 at YMCA Hall in Batticaloa and 47 Dairy farmers benefited by this programme. The Resource Person of the programme was Mr. Rohitha Sumanaweera, Deputy Director, Industrial Development Board and Mr. K. Prabakaran Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
A programme on “Financial Literacy ” was successfully conducted by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the for Dairy farmers in Batticaloa District on 30th July 2019 at Community Hall, Kaluwanchikudy, Batticaloa. 24 Dairy farmers participated in this programme. An educational Seminar on “State of the Economy as Reflected in the Annual Report 2018” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka with the collaboration of the Center for Banking Studies of Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the University Students of South Eastern University was successfully held on 25 July 2019 at the auditorium of South Eastern University, Ampara. 342 University Students participated in this programme. The resource persons of the programme were Mr. M. Kesavarajah, Senior Economist, Economic Research Department, Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional manager, Regional Office - Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
A “Programme on Business Clinics targeting SMEs” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the SMEs in Trincomalee District was successfully held on 27th June 2019 at Kolakottam Hall, Trincomalee. 90 Entrepreneurs benefited by this programme. An awareness programme on “Formal Financial Institutions, Affordable Financial Services and Prohibited Financial Schemes” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the General Public in Vellaveli, Kaluwanchikudy were successfully conducted on 04th April 2019 at Divisional Secretariat Hall, Vellaveli, Kaluwanchikudy. 47 General Public participated in this programme. The Resource Persons of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
A “Skill Development Programme on Tailoring” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Women Entrepreneurs in Pathiyathalawa, Ampara was successfully conducted on 22nd March 2019 at Daya Apparel Export Factory Auditorium in Pathiyathalawa, Ampara and 54 Women Entrepreneurs benefited by this programme. The Resource Person of the programme was Mrs. Kalyani Gunarathne, Trainer in Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority and Mr. A.M. Niroshan, Management Trainee, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
A “Credit Camp and Financial Literacy Programme” was successfully conducted by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Oxfam for the Youth entrepreneur in Batticaloa District on 15th March 2019 at Cultural Hall, Arayampathi, Batticaloa. 29 Youth entrepreneur participated in this programme. The Resource Persons of the programme was Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
A “Skill Development Programme on Palmyra Handicraft” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Women Entrepreneurs in Kantale, Trincomalee was successfully held on 06th March 2019 at Green women organization in Kantale, Trincomalee. 37 Women Entrepreneurs benefited by this programme. The resource person of the programme was Ms. P. Senthamil Selvi trained by Palmyra Development Board and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.

Approximately 76 entrepreneurs participated for these two programmes. The lecture of the programme was conducted by Mr. S. W. S. G. Dissanayake, Senior Enterprises Promotion Officer, Industrial Development Board – Trincomalee and Mr. K. Prabakaran, Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.

The resource person of the programme was Ms. Moorthi Yasothini, and Mr. K. Prabakaran Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.

An ‘Exhibition and Trade fair for small & Medium Entrepreneurs’ organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affair for the Entrepreneurs in Trincomalee was successfully held on 19th January 2019 at public ground Thambalakamam in Trincomalee to make market linkage & advertisement to the entrepreneurs in small & medium scale, establish strong brand name for local products and provide business platform to the SMEs, 58 entrepreneurs benefited by this exhibition
An awareness programme on “Anti-money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Regional Workshop for officers of Financial Institutions” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka with the collaboration of the Financial Intelligence Unit, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for officials of licensed banks, licensed finance companies and insurance companies was successfully held on 16th November 2018 at the auditorium of Green Garden Hotel, Trincomalee. 141 officers participated for the programme. The resource contribution for the programme was made by the Financial Intelligence Unit, Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
A “Exhibition and Trade fair in Agriculture sector" organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, Animal Production and Development, Fisheries, CO- OP Development, Food Supply and Distribution, Eastern Province for the Entrepreneurs in Batticaloa was successfully held on 19th, 20th & 21st September 2018 at Agri Service Training Institute, Karadiyanaru in Batticaloa to make market linkage to the entrepreneurs in Agri Business, establish strong brand name for local products and provide business platform to the SMEs, 20 Entrepreneurs benefited by this Exhibition.
A “Skill Development Programme on Curtain Designing” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for the Women Entrepreneurs in was successfully held on 14 & 15 August 2018 at Mandala Maha Viharaya Hall in Ampara, 110 Women Entrepreneurs benefited by this programme. The resource persons of the programme was Mrs. KalyaniGunarathne trainer in Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, and Mr. UpaliHettiarachchiRegional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
A “Training Programme on Marketing Accounting & book keeping” organized by the Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka for small and medium scale entrepreneurs in the Ampara District was successfully held on 29 & 30, August 2018 at the Panama Central College and Mandala Maha Viharaya in Ampara. Approximately 120 entrepreneurs participated for these two programmes. The lecture of the programme was conducted by Mr. S. W. S. G. Dissanayake, Senior Enterprises Promotion Officer, Industrial Development Board – Trincomalee and Mr. Upali Hettiarachchi Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.

The resource persons of the programme was Mrs. Kalyani Gunarathne trainer in Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, and Mr. Upali Hettiarachchi Regional Manager, Regional Office Trincomalee, Central Bank of Sri Lanka also participated.
