Why does Sri Lanka need my generous donation?

As you are aware, all Sri Lankans are currently facing social, economic, and financial hardships due to the depleted foreign currency reserves of the country, resulting in major difficulties to meet the daily needs of essential  medication, fuel and food. Therefore, your foreign currency donations are much needed to help ease the difficulties faced by the people of Sri Lanka.

Who can donate?

All Sri Lankans living abroad and well-wishers of ANY Nationality. 

How can I send my donation?

How can I receive an acknowledgement for my donation?

Please email an image of the payment confirmation to fdacc@cbsl.lk for an initial response by CBSL. Once the funds are credited to the respective account and after reconciliation with the payment confirmation, you will receive a second e-mail confirming the receipt of your donation.

How can I be sure that my donation will be used only for the importation of essential items?

CBSL assures that all foreign currency donations under this pledge will be utilized only for the purpose of importation of much-needed essential items such as medicine, fuel, and food. 

A committee consisting of three senior officers of CBSL has been appointed by the Governor to ensure the transparency of the receipts and utilization of donations. The committee is responsible for publishing the financial statements of all the foreign currency donations received, on monthly basis, via the official website of CBSL (https://www.cbsl.gov.lk ).  Further, the receipt and utilization of funds of these accounts are subjected to a periodic independent audit.  CBSL has already commenced publishing the amounts received, which is intended to be updated at least fortnightly.
